- 9 oz All-purpose flour
- 0.5 teaspoon Baking powder
- 2 oz Ground walnuts
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt
- 4 oz Granulated sugar
- 1 oz Butter
- 0.5 teaspoon Alkaline water
- 5 oz Peanut oil
- 2 oz Walnut halves
- 1 each Egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon Oil
Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground walnuts, salt, and granulated sugar in a bowl.
Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles crumbs.
Add the alkaline water and peanut oil, then mix until the dough forms and becomes soft.
Divide the dough into 20g (1 oz.) portions and flatten each slightly.
Top each piece with half a walnut and brush with an egg wash.
Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 30 minutes or until tops are lightly browned.
- You can use either salted or unsalted butter.
- You can also use 10 g butter and 10 g shortening instead of 20 g butter.
