- 1/2 cup Tahini paste
- 1/2 cup Water or as needed
- 2 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
- 1 large clove Garlic minced (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
In a medium bowl, combine tahini paste and fresh lemon juice. As you mix them together, you’ll notice the paste transforming into a creamy consistency. If it’s too thick, don’t worry; we’ll fix that shortly.
Next, gradually add water to the mixture. I suggest starting with a few tablespoons at a time, whisking continuously. This is where the magic happens! You should aim for a pourable consistency, but still thick enough to cling to your favorite salads.
Now, here’s where you can adjust the flavor. Add in the minced garlic if you’re using it. Combining the garlic with the dressing will introduce a slight kick and depth. Taste your dressing and decide if it needs a little more salt and pepper.
If you find the dressing too thick, add more water, one tablespoon at a time. On the other hand, if it’s too thin, you can incorporate a tad more tahini to achieve your preferred texture.
Once you’re satisfied with the flavor and consistency, transfer your Tahini Dressing into a clean Mason jar or airtight container. This keeps it fresh and ready for when you need it.
Store the dressing in the refrigerator. It should last for about five to seven days, although it's so good you might find it disappears much faster!
- Storage: Keep leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Proper storage helps in maintaining its flavor and freshness.
- Freezing: It’s not recommended to freeze tahini dressing as it may alter the texture. It’s best enjoyed fresh.
- Pairing: This dressing goes wonderfully with grilled vegetables, salads, or as a dip for raw veggies. It’s a fantastic addition to grain bowls as well!
- Vegan Option: This dressing is naturally vegan, making it perfect for plant-based diets.
- Texture Adjustment: If you prefer a thicker dressing, simply add more tahini. For a thinner version, incorporate more water gradually.
- Flavor Boost: Add herbs like parsley or dill to enhance freshness and complexity in flavor.
