  • Start by pouring whole milk into a medium saucepan. Set the heat to medium and gently warm the milk. Keep an eye on it as it heats, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. You want to heat it just until it starts to bubble around the edges, but avoid boiling it completely, as this can create a skin on the milk.
  • While the milk is warming, take a mixing bowl and add the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, fine sea salt, and Nielsen-Massey Pure Vanilla Powder. Whisk them together until they’re well combined. This step ensures that the cocoa and sugar will dissolve smoothly into the milk.
  • Once the milk is ready, ladle about half a cup of the warm milk into the bowl with your dry ingredients. Use a whisk to combine them, smoothing out any lumps of cocoa powder. The warm milk will help dissolve the cocoa and sugar, creating a silky mixture.
