- 1 cup Peanut Butter
- 6.5 oz Marshmallow Cream
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 5 cups Cheerios
Start by gathering all your ingredients: peanut butter, marshmallow cream, butter, and Cheerios. This will make the process smoother.
In a medium-sized bowl, add 1 cup of peanut butter, 6.5 ounces of marshmallow cream, and 2 tablespoons of butter. Using a microwave, heat this mixture on high for about two minutes. You'll know it's ready when the marshmallow cream has melted and everything is warm and gooey.
While the mixture is heating, pour 5 cups of Cheerios into a large bowl. Ensure you’re using any flavor except fruity ones for the best results.
Next, prepare a 9x13 inch dish by spraying it with non-stick spray. This will help your bars come out easily later.
Once your peanut butter mixture is hot and melted, carefully pour it over the Cheerios in the large bowl. Use a large spoon or spatula to mix everything together until all the Cheerios are evenly coated.
Pour the mixture into the prepared 9x13 dish. With a spatula, spread the mix evenly and press it down firmly to ensure it holds together as it cools.
Set the dish aside for a while and allow the bars to cool completely. This step is crucial as it helps them firm up.
When the bars are cool, take a sharp knife and cut them into squares. I recommend cutting them into about 16 squares for perfect snack-sized pieces.
Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for longer freshness. They’re great for grabbing on the go!
- Use any type of Cheerios: You can use any type of Cheerios you prefer, except for the fruity ones.
- Prepare your pan: Use parchment paper or non-stick spray as these may stick.
- Mini marshmallows: If you can't find the marshmallow fluff, a small bag of mini marshmallows will work as well (melt in the microwave).
- Soften the marshmallow cream: Soften the marshmallow cream in the microwave for 10-20 seconds to make it easier to remove from the jar.
- No-bake recipe: This is a no-bake recipe, but you still have to heat things in the microwave. If you prefer, you can heat on the stovetop until the marshmallow cream is a thick liquid.
- Butter alternatives: It's fine to substitute margarine for the butter.
- Other cereals: You can substitute other kinds of cereal as well.
