Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Butter softened
  • ½ cup Shortening
  • cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Christmas Colored M&M's
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the butter and shortening on medium speed for 30 seconds.
  • Add the brown sugar, baking soda, and salt; beat until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  • Add the flour, mixing at low speed just until combined.
  • Stir in the M&M's and pecans (if desired).
  • Drop the dough from rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  • Cool the cookies for 1 minute on the baking sheet. Using a wide spatula, transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
