- ½ cup Shortening
- 1¼ cup Packed Brown Sugar
- ¾ teaspoon Baking Soda
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 3 large Eggs
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
- 3½ cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Christmas Colored M&M's
- 1 cup Chopped Pecans optional
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the butter and shortening on medium speed for 30 seconds.
Add the brown sugar, baking soda, and salt; beat until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Add the flour, mixing at low speed just until combined.
Stir in the M&M's and pecans (if desired).
Drop the dough from rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
Cool the cookies for 1 minute on the baking sheet. Using a wide spatula, transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
