Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • Bowl
  • Fine mesh strainer

Ingredients

  • 8 oz Fresh strawberries hulled
  • 6 cups Water divided
  • 4 Tea bags
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Lemon juiced

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing the strawberries. In a food processor, blend the strawberries into a smooth puree. Set it aside for later. You want to ensure it’s a vibrant consistency that will mix well with the tea.
  • Next, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. You can do this on the stovetop or in the microwave. Once it’s bubbling, add the tea bags to the hot water. Allow them to steep for about five minutes. This is where the tea draws out its rich flavors, so keep an eye on the time.
  • After steeping, remove the tea bags and add in the sugar. Stir until it’s fully dissolved, creating a sweet tea base. It should have a lovely golden hue by now.
  • In a large glass pitcher, combine the strawberry puree, the steeped tea, the remaining water, and the lemon juice. Stir gently to combine everything without losing that wonderful strawberry essence.
  • Now, it’s time to chill the drink. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least an hour. This allows all the flavors to meld together beautifully, making each sip refreshing.
  • When you’re ready to serve, give it a good stir and pour the tea into glasses filled with ice cubes. For an extra touch, garnish with sliced fresh strawberries and mint leaves. This not only looks appealing but also adds a lovely aroma!

Notes

  • Storage: Store this homemade iced tea in the fridge covered with a lid or plastic wrap for several days.
  • Freezing: Can you freeze this? Yes! You can freeze the concentrate for 2-3 months for a refreshing treat later.
  • Variations: Feel free to experiment with different fruits like peaches or raspberries for a twist.
  • Sweetness level: Adjust the sugar based on how sweet your strawberries are; taste as you go!
  • Presentation: For a beautiful look, consider adding garnishes like mint or lemon slices before serving.
