  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1 bag frozen broccoli

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • More salt and pepper to taste

  • Start by placing 1 quart of water in a medium-sized saucepan. Heat it over medium heat until it reaches a rolling boil. This initial step is crucial as it prepares the water for cooking the broccoli.
  • Once the water is boiling, add 4 tablespoons of butter, 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper. Stir gently to help the butter melt and blend the flavors into the water.
  • Now, it’s time to introduce the star of the show! Carefully add 1 bag of frozen broccoli to the boiling water. Make sure all the florets are submerged in the water for even cooking.
  • Allow the broccoli to cook in the boiling water until it turns bright green and tender, usually taking about 3 to 5 minutes. It’s important to keep an eye on it; you want it cooked but not mushy.
  • As the broccoli approaches readiness, use a large slotted spoon or kitchen spider to remove it from the pot. Place the broccoli in a bowl, allowing excess water to drain off. This step is essential to prevent a soggy texture.
  • Now that the broccoli is drained, sprinkle it with ½ teaspoon of garlic powder and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. These ingredients will infuse the broccoli with a savory flavor that complements its natural taste.
