Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying Pan
  • Large Pot

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Guittard is my favorite
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • cup evaporated milk One 12-ounce can will make a double batch of hot fudge. Just double the other 3 ingredients as well.

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, stir together butter and chocolate, until chocolate is melted.
  • Stir in powdered sugar and evaporated milk. Mixture will be very thin.
  • Increase heat to slightly more than medium and bring mixture to a low boil. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring continuously, until thickened.
  • Remove saucepan from heat and let cool for 5 to 10 minutes. It will thicken more, the longer it cools.

Notes

  • Tip 1: Recipe makes about 1 cup of Hot Fudge Sauce.
  • Tip 2: For a double recipe, use the whole 12-ounce can of evaporated milk and then double the butter, chocolate chips, and powdered sugar.
  • Tip 3: For even more chocolate flavor, double the amount of chocolate chips.
  • Tip 4: Store in the refrigerator in a covered container for up to 3 weeks.
  • Tip 5: Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
