Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef (I use 93% lean)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (omit if using 85% lean)
  • 1 batch Hamburger Seasoning
  • 1 batch Homemade Hamburger Buns
  • to taste Toppings of choice: cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard etc.

Instructions

  • First, position racks in the upper and lower thirds of your oven and preheat to 400°F. This ensures even cooking and a great sear on the burgers.
  • Next, line two baking sheets with parchment paper. This will prevent the burgers from sticking and make for easy clean-up later on.
  • In a medium bowl, place the ground beef. This is where the magic begins! Make sure it's at room temperature for even mixing.
  • Add the extra virgin olive oil and Hamburger Seasoning to the bowl. If you’re using 85% lean ground beef, the olive oil will help keep the burgers juicy.
  • Using your hands, gently combine the ingredients. Avoid overmixing, as this can lead to tough burgers.
  • Shape the mixture into patties about 1/2-inch thick. Be sure to make them equal in size for uniform cooking.
  • Divide the patties between the two baking sheets, leaving plenty of space between each. It’s important not to overcrowd the sheets; aim for no more than four patties per sheet.
  • Now it’s time to bake! Place the sheets in the oven and bake until the burgers register 140°F to 145°F for medium, which should take about 8 to 10 minutes. Halfway through, switch the pans’ positions to ensure even cooking.
  • If you’d like to add cheese, place it on top of the patties halfway through cooking. Let it melt beautifully.
  • Once done, transfer the burgers to a plate and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps retain their juices.
  • Finally, serve your Hamburgers in the Oven on homemade hamburger buns with all your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
