Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2.5 tablespoons dried onion flakes
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 0.125 teaspoon celery seed
  • 0.125 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the 8 ounces of sour cream with 2½ tablespoons of dried onion flakes. Use a spatula to mix these two ingredients thoroughly. The sour cream should be smooth and creamy, serving as the perfect base for our dip.
  • Add in the ½ teaspoon of kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon of onion powder, ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon of dried parsley, ⅛ teaspoon of celery seed, and ⅛ teaspoon of black pepper. Each of these spices contributes to a rich flavor profile. Stir until everything is well combined. The dip should be well-blended and have a lovely aroma.
  • If time permits, cover the dip with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate it for about 30 minutes. This step allows the flavors to meld beautifully, enhancing the overall taste.
  • When it's time to serve, give the dip a quick stir. This refreshes the texture and flavor. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, making sure to present it attractively.
  • Serve the Easy Homemade Chip Dip with your choice of chips, crackers, or fresh veggies. Each bite will bring a delightful combination of flavors and textures that everyone will love!

Notes

  • In Place of Spices: Use ¼ cup of store-bought or homemade dried onion soup mix.
  • Low-Fat Version: Use ½ cup of sour cream and ½ cup of plain nonfat Greek yogurt instead of a full cup of sour cream.
  • Storage: Chip Dip will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir the dip again before serving.
