Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Frying Pan
  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Sausage
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 6 large Large Eggs
  • 1 cup Biscuit Mix
  • 2 cups Milk I use whole milk.
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This is crucial for achieving that perfect bake. A hot oven will help the casserole puff up beautifully.
  • In an oven-proof frying pan, cook the sausage over medium heat. As it cooks, break it up into smaller pieces. You’re looking for a nice golden color. Once the pink is gone, scoop it out and set it aside.
  • Now, if you want to ensure nothing sticks, spray the pan with non-stick spray. This step isn’t mandatory, but it can save you from any sticky situations later.
  • Return the cooked sausage to the pan and sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top. The cheese will melt beautifully during baking and create a delicious crust.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, biscuit mix, and milk. Make sure to beat slightly and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour this mixture over the sausage and cheese in the pan. Ensure it’s evenly distributed so every bite is flavorful.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your pan’s size. If using a skillet, expect it to be around 40 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the center is firm and no longer jiggly.
  • Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. This helps everything set and makes serving easier.
  • Serve warm, and watch your friends and family enjoy each bite!

Notes

  • Storage: After baking, store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
  • Freezing: You can freeze the casserole after baking. Just wrap it tightly and store for up to a month. Reheat in the oven.
  • Pairing: This casserole pairs wonderfully with a fresh fruit salad or some crispy hash browns.
  • Variations: Feel free to add in your favorite vegetables, like bell peppers or spinach, for added nutrition.
  • Cheese Choice: Experiment with different types of cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for a flavor twist.
