Equipment

  • Oven
  • Grater
  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 pound jumbo lump crabmeat picked through for shells
  • 16 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder or 1/2 small onion, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 – 3 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350º F. This is an important step as it ensures even cooking when we bake our dip.
  • Grab a 9×13 baking dish or two smaller casserole dishes and spray them with nonstick cooking spray. This will prevent any sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and lemon juice. Using a spatula or mixer, blend until smooth and creamy. Make sure there are no lumps!
  • Add in the Parmesan cheese, Cheddar cheese, minced garlic, onion powder, crabmeat, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to combine, being careful not to break apart the crabmeat too much. You want those lovely chunks to remain!
  • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish or dishes. If you’re using two smaller dishes, divide the mixture equally.
  • If you’re baking in one 9×13 dish, pop it in the oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes. For the smaller dishes, bake them for about 15 to 20 minutes, checking for a golden-brown top and bubbly edges.
  • Once it’s done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. The aroma will be mouthwatering!
  • Serve the Crab Dip Recipe hot with your favorite crackers, corn chips, or tortilla chips. The combination of the warm dip and crispy snacks is irresistible.
  • Enjoy the compliments as everyone digs in. This dip is one that will be remembered long after the gathering!

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge. It should last for up to three days. You can freeze the dip before baking it for up to three months. Just thaw it in the fridge overnight before baking. This dip pairs wonderfully with crispy crackers, fresh veggies, or toasted baguette slices. Experiment with different cheeses or add ingredients like chopped green onions or diced peppers for a twist. Depending on your gathering, this recipe makes a large batch, perfect for parties. Scale down if you’re making it for a smaller group.
