Equipment

  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3.5 cups Flour
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped, optional

Instructions

  • Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl or mixer. Let stand for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Mix with the dough hook for 6-8 minutes on medium low speed until smooth. Transfer to an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray. Let rise until doubled in size, about an hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Punch down and turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Cut into 12 even portions, about 2 ounces each. Roll out into 8-9 inch logs and set on a baking sheet. Let rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • While dough is resting, mix together the garlic butter: melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and parsley.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Brush immediately with garlic butter.

Notes

  • Tip 1: Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. If you need to keep them longer, consider refrigerating them.
  • Tip 2: These breadsticks freeze well! To freeze, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and store them in a freezer bag. They can last up to 3 months.
  • Tip 3: To reheat, place them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes, or until warmed through.
  • Tip 4: Experiment with different seasonings in the garlic butter, such as oregano or Italian herbs, to give your breadsticks a unique twist.
  • Tip 5: These breadsticks make a great side for soups, salads, or pasta dishes, adding an extra touch of comfort to your meal.
