Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients

  • cups fresh coarsely ground coffee
  • 3 cups filtered water
  • milk or plant milk optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Begin by placing the ground coffee into a 28-ounce mason jar or similar container. Add the filtered water to the jar. Stir the mixture gently to ensure all the coffee grounds are saturated. Cover the jar tightly and set it aside at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours.
  • After steeping, spread a piece of cheesecloth over a fine mesh strainer and place it over a large bowl. Pour the steeped coffee into the bowl through the strainer.
  • Once you’ve strained all the coffee, store the strained brew in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, pour the Cold Brew Coffee over ice in a tall glass.
  • Add milk or plant milk if desired, or enjoy it black for a refreshing kick. If your brew is stronger than you prefer, you can always dilute it with additional water or milk to suit your taste.

Notes

  • Freshly ground coffee is best for cold brew. Pre-ground coffee will have a staler taste.
