Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • ½ cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Good pinch flaked sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 175C / 350F (electric) or 155C / 310F (fan assisted). This is an essential step as it ensures even baking for your crackers.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the dry ingredients: almond flour, chia seeds, sesame seeds, and a pinch of sea salt. Make sure everything is evenly mixed.
  • Add the water to the dry mixture. Stir with a spatula or fork until a dough forms. It should be slightly sticky but manageable. If it feels too dry, you can add a touch more water.
  • Roll out the dough thinly between two sheets of parchment paper. It’s crucial to have even thickness so that all the crackers bake uniformly.
  • Fold over the edges to form a rectangle. Place the parchment sheet back on top and re-roll to smooth everything out. This step helps in achieving that perfect cracker shape.
  • Once rolled out, remove the top sheet of parchment. Pre-cut into 30 squares using a pizza cutter or knife. Try to make them as even as possible for uniform cooking.
  • Lift the parchment paper with the cracker dough onto a baking sheet. This makes transferring easier without breaking your carefully cut crackers.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until slightly golden. Keep an eye on them because the baking time may vary depending on the thickness of your dough.
  • After baking, allow the crackers to cool completely on the baking sheet. This cooling time helps them firm up and become crisp!

Notes

  • Tip 1: Keep crackers in a sealed container to maintain their crispiness. They can last for up to two weeks at room temperature.
  • Tip 2: You can freeze the dough before baking. Just thaw in the refrigerator and bake when you’re ready for a fresh batch!
  • Tip 3: Feel free to add dried herbs like oregano or rosemary to the dough for extra flavor. A little garlic powder can also be a nice touch!
  • Tip 4: These crackers pair wonderfully with dips, cheeses, or even a spread of avocado. Get creative!
  • Tip 5: Try experimenting with different thicknesses for your crackers. Thinner ones will be crispier, while thicker ones will be more substantial.
