Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Frying Pan
  • Oven
  • Peeler

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 Tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 whole lemon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to broil setting. If your oven has two settings, choose high for the best results. This ensures your shrimp cook quickly and evenly, achieving that wonderful char.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp, Cajun seasoning, and olive oil. Stir well to coat all the shrimp evenly. The oil helps the spices stick and infuses the shrimp with flavor.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to thirty minutes. This step allows the shrimp to marinate, letting the flavors penetrate and enhance the overall taste of your dish.
  • After marinating, take a jelly roll pan and lay the shrimp in a single layer. Make sure they’re not crowded, as this allows for better cooking and a nice broil.
  • Place the pan on the middle rack of your oven and broil until the shrimp turn pink, about five minutes. Keep an eye on them, as they cook quickly!
  • Once cooked, transfer the shrimp to a serving platter. I love to garnish them with a sprinkle of extra Cajun seasoning for presentation and a final squeeze of fresh lemon juice. This adds a refreshing zing that complements the spices beautifully.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently to retain the shrimp's texture.
  • Freezing: You can freeze cooked shrimp for up to three months. Just ensure they're cooled completely before transferring to a freezer-safe container.
  • Pairing: Serve your shrimp over a bed of rice or with crusty bread to soak up all the delicious juices.
  • Flavor Variations: Experiment with different seasonings. Adding garlic powder or lemon zest can give your shrimp an extra pop of flavor.
  • Serving Suggestions: This dish works beautifully with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad to balance the meal.
