Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 1/8 teaspoon White Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon MSG (optional)
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion salt
  • 1/4 cup Salad oil
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Wine Vinegar
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 ounces Blue Cheese

Instructions

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients, which include white pepper, MSG, salt, onion salt, salad oil, water, wine vinegar, mayonnaise, sour cream, and blue cheese.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the white pepper, MSG, salt, and onion salt. Mix these together to ensure an even distribution of flavors.
  • Add in the salad oil and water to the spice mixture. Stir well until everything is combined.
  • Next, blend in the wine vinegar, mayonnaise, and sour cream. These ingredients will create the creamy base of your dressing.
  • Now it’s time to add the blue cheese. Mash it into the mixture, ensuring that it is well incorporated. You can leave some chunks for texture if you like.
  • Once everything is well mixed, taste the dressing. Adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or pepper according to your preference.
  • Transfer your Blue Cheese Dressing into a storage container. Cover it and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
  • When ready to serve, give it a good stir. Enjoy it over your favorite salad, as a dip, or drizzled over grilled meats.
  • Any leftovers? Store them in the refrigerator for up to one week. Just remember to stir again before using.

Notes

  • Tip 1: For the most complex flavor, use a good quality blue cheese like Danish blue, Roquefort, or Gorgonzola.
  • Tip 2: The MSG is completely optional—while it enhances the umami quality of the dressing, you’ll still get excellent results without it.
  • Tip 3: If you prefer a thinner consistency, simply add 1-2 additional tablespoons of water.
  • Tip 4: For those who enjoy a more pronounced cheese flavor, increase the blue cheese to 3 ounces.
  • Tip 5: The dressing actually improves after sitting overnight in the refrigerator, as this allows the blue cheese flavor to fully permeate the mixture.
