- 1 pound Raw almonds
- 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt (optional)
Start with about 1 pound of raw almonds. Place them in the bowl of your food processor or blender. If you’re using a high-powered blender, that works great too!
Begin processing the almonds. At first, they will break down into a meal-like consistency. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula as necessary. This step is crucial to ensure all almonds are evenly processed.
Keep processing! After about 5 to 10 minutes, the almonds will begin to clump together and turn into a thick paste. Continue to blend until you reach your desired consistency.
Don’t lose hope if it seems like nothing is happening—this is a normal part of the process. The almonds will release their oils and transform into a creamy, spreadable consistency. You may need to go for about 10 to 15 minutes of blending in total.
If desired, add a pinch of kosher salt towards the end of the blending process for flavor. Blend again to mix thoroughly.
Once you've achieved the perfect texture, stop the processor and taste your Almond Butter. Adjust the salt or any other flavorings you want.
Transfer your Almond Butter into an airtight container. It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Use a spatula to scrape out every last bit of your delicious creation. Enjoy it on toast, in smoothies, or just by the spoonful!
Keep an eye on your food processor or blender; if it shows signs of overheating, take a break for a few minutes before continuing. Always prioritize the health of your equipment!
